Live (calcined) dolomite is the product of heating raw dolomite rock at high temperatures (usually above 900 °C). This process is similar to the production of quicklime from limestone and results in the thermal decomposition of the dolomite and the formation of a mixture of calcium oxide (CaO) and magnesium oxide (MgO). Live dolomite is also known by other names such as calcined dolomite or baked dolomite.
